Buzz Aldrin gets married to his longtime love on 93rd Birthday

On his 93rd birthday, Buzz Aldrin, the second human to walk on the moon, gets married.

Buzz Aldrin, the second man to set foot on the moon and a renowned astronaut from Apollo 11, announced on Friday, his 93rd birthday, that he had married his longtime girlfriend.

Aldrin was married in a private ceremony to Anca Faur, executive vice president of Buzz Aldrin Ventures.

"On the day I turned 93. I am happy to announce that my longtime love Dr. Anca Faur and I have become husband and wife," Aldrin tweeted with pictures of the couple, who are reportedly 63 years old.

In a small, private ceremony held in Los Angeles, we were united in holy matrimony. ".

Faur, who holds a chemical engineering doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh, worked for Union Carbide and Johnson Matthey prior to joining Buzz Aldrin Ventures, according to her LinkedIn profile. The California Hydrogen Business Council had also employed her as its treasurer.

Three of Aldrin's prior marriages ended in divorce

Aldrin has been married and divorced three times. He married Joan Ann Archer in 1954 and the couple were together for 20 years before divorcing. He was married to Beverly Van Zile from 1975 to 1978, and Lois Driggs Cannon between 1988 and 2012.

The American astronaut is the last surviving member of the Apollo 11 crew, which landed on the Moon on July 20, 1969, with Neil Armstrong.

Armstrong passed away in 2012, while Michael Collins passed away in April 2021. Collins was the command module pilot while his crewmates were on the moon.

Aldrin has continued to be a strong supporter of space exploration ever since he left NASA in 1971.

He has a crater on the Moon named after him that is close to the Apollo 11 landing area.
