World Cup 2022: Messi's Wife Celebrates the Argentina Star's penalty
While her father watches in awe as Lionel Messi lights up the
World Cup final, his wife Antonela celebrates the Argentina star's penalty.
Antonela, Lionel Messi's wife, jumped for joy when her husband
gave Argentina a 1-0 lead in the World Cup final.
The 35-year-old entered today's game with the goal of making
history by capping his illustrious career with the one trophy he has yet to
win.
Argentina came out strong in the first quarter, putting France
under immediate pressure.
On minute 23, they earned a goal after it was determined that
Ousmane Dembele had fouled Angel Di Maria inside the penalty area.
Hugo Lloris was outmatched from 12 yards away by Messi as he stepped up to take the ensuing penalty kick, sending his millions of fans into raptures all over the world.
No one was happier than Antonela, who leapt to her feet and
raised her fists in the air as she cheered from the audience.
Her sons, Ciro, 4, Thiago, 10, and Mateo, 7, were present.
When their dad scored on the biggest stage, the young group of friends
erupted in jubilant celebration.
Jorge, Messi's father, also proudly observed from the stands.
Only 13 minutes later, with Messi once more involved,
Argentina's situation improved even further.
The Paris Saint-Germain player expertly flicked the ball on as
his team launched a counterattack, and Alexis Mac Allister eventually received
it.
He then passed it to Di Maria, who expertly defeated Lloris in a
one-on-one match.
Because of France's lackluster performance, manager Didier
Deschamps had to take drastic action and make TWO substitutions only five
minutes before halftime.
Randal Kolo Muani and Marcus Thuram were brought in to replace
the attackers he had removed, Dembele and Olivier Giroud.
In honor of Antonela and the children, Messi's World Cup championship
boots included a special design with their initials.
In one of the greatest matches ever played, Argentina eventually
prevailed after a 3-3 draw on penalties.
After Lionel Messi's team quickly took a 2-0 lead, Kylian Mbappe
scored a quick-fire brace to force extra time.
Messi and Mbappe added another goal in extra time, and Argentina went on to win the game 4-2 in the shootout.
